At the end of January, I presented you with 20 essential tools for successful SEO. Among them was LiveOptim. Here’s a tutorial to show you how this tool can help you optimize all of your site’s content in minutes. Follow the guide…
Presentation of LiveOptim…
LiveOptim is an application that will optimize all of your content based on the tagging strategy that you have configured. You will only have to indicate your keywords, your landing pages and your optimization strategy and all your content will be dynamically optimized in a few seconds. Big advantage: all your new pages will also be optimized without having to do anything.
LiveOptim is a script that will install on your site, it is compatible with all CMS, whether WordPress, Prestashop, Joomla, OS Commerce … In our case, we will take the example of WordPress.
Prerequisite: activate Zend on your accommodation…
To work, LiveOptin requires that Zend is activated on your hosting server. Visit the website of your host to find out about the process. As an example, here is the one for OVH.
Just add the following command to your .htaccess file:
SetEnv ZEND_OPTIMIZER 1
If necessary, you can consult the OVH help.
Download and install LiveOptim…
Go to LiveOptim.com and download the trial version. This has a duration of 30 days to allow you to assess the performance of the application. The plugin then has a cost of € 29.90, which is really little compared to the gain in visibility that you will be able to obtain in SEO and the saving of time spent optimizing your pages.
Once the plugin zip has been downloaded, go to your WordPress administration then on Extensions> Add> Send. Click on “Choose a file” then go and find the zip file you just downloaded.
LiveOptim is now operational on your WordPress blog.
1: Define keywords and target pages
The first thing to do is to indicate the keywords you want to optimize. For each keyword, you will also enter the url of the associated page. If a keyword is assigned to more than one page, you can specify an order of priority for the different pages.
If you have not yet defined your keywords, you can read the following article: How to choose the right keywords for natural or paid SEO?
2: Define the markup strategy
Once your keywords have been set up, you will have to indicate how the plugin will optimize your pages. By default, LiveOptim offers the following markup scheme: the first occurrence of the keyword will take the form of a link (to the page you indicated in the previous step), the second occurrence will be bold, the third will not be changed and the last one will again take the form of a link.
This default markup scheme is well thought out, you can leave it for your optimization. But if you have your secret SEO recipe, take the opportunity to indicate it here so that all your pages benefit from it.
You also have the option of performing loop processing. I do not advise you at the risk of over-optimizing your pages.
Likewise, you can configure the optimization scheme for the target pages. Example:
3: Indicate processing exceptions
The plugin also provides a configuration to indicate the tags which must not be modified by the script. You can customize this part according to your needs:
All your content is then optimized according to the markup rules you have indicated, you have nothing else to do, LiveOptim takes care of everything 🙂 Watch the effect of this optimization on your traffic from search engines as well as on your positions on the optimized keywords.
Once installed, LiveOptim is very easy to use. In 5/10 min (depending on the number of keywords you want to optimize), you will have optimized all of your content. Significant time savings to focus on the optimization strategy rather than page-by-page optimization can be tedious.
I invite you to test it by going here and to give us your feedback via the comments.
