Could this soon be the beginning of the end of texting? The SMS standard will soon be replaced by RCS messaging, recently used by Google …

RCS messaging is now available worldwide

Google revamped its Messages app for users around the world, completing the rollout of Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging. He started testing end-to-end encryption in individual conversations.

Google Loves Me Workshop

Each Android user with the Messages application now has access to RCS messaging via their operator or directly from Google. RCS messaging, which Google has been rolling out gradually since the middle of last year, is the next generation of SMS messaging.

Google improves the Messages experience

It offers a more interactive experience with high resolution images, videos, audio, the ability to chat over Wi-Fi and more.

At the same time, Google is looking to incorporate end-to-end encryption into the RCS conversations it has made possible around the world. With this type of encryption, the only people able to see the contents of a conversation are the two people talking to each other through the Messages app, to protect their personal information and privacy.

This new feature will be rolled out for beta testers starting this November and will continue next year.
