Have you ever gone on vacation alone or with others? Have you ever been looking for great deals where you were? Of course, there is Facebook to help, but let’s face it, finding THE right plan is complicated! And who tells you that the event found will be really pleasant and correspond to your current desires? It’s here that Meet’n Go! comes on the scene. At the dawn of its launch, here is a presentation accompanied by an interview with Vincent Tellier, founder of the application …
Hi Vincent, a quick note to introduce yourself and know where you come from?
During my master, I had the chance to travel to Europe (Budapest and Alicante mainly) and it literally changed my life, as much by the meetings I was able to do as by the way I looked at England. after my return. I realized that my country was not up to my ambitions and that I no longer felt at home there. In the long term, I want to settle in San Francisco, but I want to see a few countries first before landing. So I decided to go to Australia to do my final internship.
Great, tell us about the rest of your Meet’n Go adventure in Australia.
After this 6 month period, I worked for startups in the hope of being sponsored and able to stay in the country. It never happened. Suddenly, I once again expatriated and this time in Auckland, New Zealand. I found a job there quickly thanks to the network of French engineers While42 (of which I was the manager of the chapter on Melbourne and current manager of that of Auckland). Today, I work as a front-end developer for Saatchi & Saatchi (advertising agency of the Publicis group). It’s my job during the day. In the evening, I work on Meet’n Go! With this application, I am tackling the organization of parties for travelers today.
Before launching this project, I was able to face a recurring problem that all travelers have: finding an evening in a city that you do not know. Sure, there are the groups on Facebook and Meetup.com, but they are more for pre-arranged events. There are also a lot of apps that are in the same niche, but they often offer UX (User Experience) very limited and personally, I had never heard of it. Therefore, we will try to “crack” the market with a quality product and relevant characteristics and at the same time organize crazy parties!
Perfect. In summary, what is the purpose of Meet’n Go? It’s a bit like the social network of travelers, isn’t it?
If Meet’n Go was just a social network, groups on Facebook would be enough. But this application allows you to see in real time what is happening in a city. Thanks to an interface as simple as Snapchat, we “Uberize” on Saturday evenings. Meet’n Go will therefore allow travelers from all over the world to meet in the evening in groups of 6, ideal to be sure of having quality meetings and as simply as possible. Today, that’s what the first version of the app offers anyway. I am sure that functionalities will be added over time. Personally, I would really like to integrate gamification, but we will see how the Meeters will use the application and if this feature is one of those acclaimed.
Speaking of “Meeters”, are any events planned for soon, in concrete terms?
Of course ! Vicky, an early-adopter who has become co-founder, and I organize events every weekend. Several beta testers join us and we spend the evening together. After all, that’s what Meet’n Go is all about! But above all, we organize “Meet your Mates” evenings. The first edition of this social speed meeting, which took place on July 25, brought together around thirty people. Their only goal was to have a good evening meeting new people.
All of these events allow us to build our community and validate the concept of our application.
What is the future of Meet’n Go in 2015 and 2020? Who is it for?
Today we’re focusing on launching Meet’n Go in Auckland. Nevertheless, we already have several objectives over the next few years. Over the 2015-2016 period, we want to be present throughout New Zealand. Having an active user base will allow us to say that we have successfully completed the first part of running Meet’n Go and that we are offering a quality product.
To ensure the development of the application internationally, I would like to travel around the world to promote the launch of the application in the largest cities. This wish can be fulfilled thanks to our “Meet your mates” evenings. This is also going to be a period to test our team and its ability to manage problems and conflicts and see if we are on the same wavelength in the long term. This trip should end in San Francisco.
Finally, by 2020, the ideal would be to be able to manage what happens before, during and after the evenings, but above all to facilitate the expatriation and the trips of my compatriots as well as of all the citizens of the world! Travel has really changed my life. I would like to share this experience with those who have not yet had the chance to live it.
Great. Thank you Vincent for your story and your project. Good luck with this launch and see you soon at an event in Paris or elsewhere who knows? 🙂
Meet’n Go! It’s up to you to live it now!
