If you’ve ever thought of integrating Instagram Stories into your marketing strategy, this article will convince you even more. Not only are Instagram Stories fun and creative, but they’re also great for building engagement, building brand awareness, increasing traffic to your website, and even making e-commerce sales…
Instagram Stories, what is it?
Before we explain why you should post Instagram stories, let’s quickly define what a story is.
The Instagram Story feature allows you to share photos and videos with your followers, but every message you share expires and disappears after 24 hours – unless you add them to your profile as permanent “highlights”.
Instagram users can access your Instagram Story by clicking on your profile picture, which will be circled in orange to indicate that your profile has an active story ready for viewing.
Now discover 10 reasons to use Instagram stories for your marketing strategy.
1. Instagram stories are more powerful than Snapchat
First, if you’re already using Snapchat to speak to your audience, you should take into account that Instagram Stories outperform Snapchat on almost every level.
In fact, in November 2017, Instagram Stories amassed 300 million active users a day, almost double the number of daily active Snapchat users.
2. Instagram Stories are discoverable by other users
Discoverable means that people who don’t follow you can also see your stories!
Your stories are 24 hours long, but not only those who follow you will see them. In fact, they are discoverable in the same way that you can see the accounts to which you are not subscribed, the other users will see yours!
A great opportunity to get new subscribers.
3. Add hashtags to your Instagram Stories
If you haven’t already noticed, you can now add hashtags to your stories.
When someone searches for a hashtag, your Instagram stories with that hashtag appear at the top of the newsfeed, which makes it even easier for you to discover!
4. Include an external link
If you have more than 10,000 followers, there is an option called Swipe UP allowing you to include a link on your Instagram story (for example, link directly to your website, shop article or blog article!). All you need to do is add a call to action that prompts you to swipe up or just say it orally, and subscribers will visit your link.
This link function is only available for accounts of more than 10,000 subscribers. However, if you’re below, don’t feel discouraged because when they first released this feature, it was only for those with more than a million users and it dropped quickly.
In the meantime, you can always include an outgoing link in your Instagram bio!
Tagging other users, subscribers, in your stories allows them to feel valued, to strengthen your relationships and even to create new ones!
For example, if you’re launching a new feature or new product, feel free to randomly tag your subscribers in your stories to let them know. As a result, you create real and lasting relationships.
6. Promote exclusivity
By showing people what you work on every day and giving them a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes, you give them a feeling of exclusivity. Everyone likes to feel special, and you also create an advertising teasing behind what you’re working on.
7. Your brand stays in your mind
With Instagram algorithms that change regularly, it is becoming increasingly difficult to have a decent engagement.
The main advantage of Instagram Stories for business is that if you are in constant contact with your audience, you now have the opportunity to be seen more often, staying in their minds.

8. There is no better time to post because they are visible for 24 hours
We recommend that you use Instagram Stories at least twice a day, every 10-12 hours, so you always have something in the story feed.
9. You can download / save them
Once you’ve created and posted your Instagram Stories, you can download individual posts, or even entire stories if you want to use them again later or for another social network (for example, another social platform like Facebook) .
10. Hide your own Instagram Stories
For whatever reason, you may have competitors following you. No one wants to reveal the backstage to its competitors.
You may not want certain users in particular to see what you are working on, or what is happening in your offices so during the configuration of your Instagram Stories, you can choose to hide them from particular users. Instagram seems to have thought of everything.
The best way to understand stories is to create them
No matter how many new social channels or new features we see, there is no secret that Instagram stories work for you: you have to try the experience for yourself.
Stories are still a relatively new and constantly evolving content format, but they encourage authenticity and creativity.
