Redirect 301 – what is it, in what cases is applied.

301 redirect – SEO WIKI

301 redirects are redirecting page visitors and search engine robots from one URL to another. Setting up a 301 redirect is needed:

when the mirrors of the site “stick together” – one with www, the other without;
when the site moves to a new domain;
when the project is transferred to the new CMS;
When the URL changes
when duplicate pages are deleted.

For SEO 301, a redirect on promoted sites is necessary, because thanks to it, you can save positions in search engines: without a bunch of old and new URLs, search engines will consider them different and will not take into account their history.

The correct 301 redirect provides for working with the .htaccess file: you need to create it if it is not there, and register the redirect code in it. For example, when you need to change the URL, the code will look like this:

Redirect 301 / old-address.html http: //new-domain.ru/new-address.html

If the web resource is transferred to the secure HTTPS protocol, the following code is written:

RewriteCond% {SERVER_PORT}! ^ 443 $
RewriteRule ^ (. *) $ Https://site.co.uk/$1 [R = 301, L]

Check redirect 301 – a necessary condition for completing the settings forwarding. Check the page by going to it from the search and from other sections of the site.
